Maine Two Footers / B&SR / Locomotive No.3

Bridgton & Saco River Railroad Locomotive No.3

Number 3, pictured here at Bridgton, was purchased nine years after B&SR was opened. It was more powerful than the previous two engines with its larger cylinders and heavier mass. When the different Bridgton engies were retired is a matter of conjecture. The No.3's arrival didn't send either of the previous engines into the scrap heap - 12 to 15 years passed before No.2 was sold to the WW&F.
